As a marketing manager for ReconAfrica, I identified the issues facing Kavango basin is to balance the food security in the area as well as protecting community forests anongside the operations of oil firms. The challenges that people in Kavango River Basin face is environmental degradation as oil firms continue to extract more oil. This has tempered with the overall ecosystem of the region jeopardizing the overall agricultural productivity of the area. As individuals focus on reviving the area, they pursue community forest protection which again decreases further farmlands. The continuous loss of livestock and crops due to environmental degradation and strategies of protecting forests in the region has threatened the livelihoods of many people. The society continues to struggle to balance these interest of increasing farmland, which is the source of income to many people, allow oil companies to continue degrading the ecosystem or pursue with the community forest protection strategies. As a manager, I have focus bon this aspect to advice the company what could be done to relieve some of these burdens and create an amicable co-existence between the community and the company.
