The term dark age is the period between the fall of the Roman empire and the Renaissance initially coined by Petrarch in the 5th- 14th century. However, the term dark age was appropriately named by the patriarch because there was a slight scientific, cultural, and technological advancement during that period.

The time thought to be the dark age was rich with a noticeably advanced culture. The Roman and Greeks society had contributed to the world with the most developed art, science, architecture, philosophy, and political system. Moreover, after Petrarch named the period between the fall of Rome and the Renaissance the dark age, other philosophers perceived the dates were under constant scrutiny by historians since there was a degree of overlap in dates, regional variations, and culture, among other factors. Therefore period was suggested to be called the Middle Age or Feudal period.

Additionally, the Middle Age period was characterized by a substantial rise in Christian missionary activities, Such as the early English church with trained priests and Bishop. Later in the 7th century, the archbishop Theodore began a school at Canterbury that would become the central core of academic learning in Anglo-Saxon England.

In the early middle age between the 5th and 10th century, the kingdom existed in a relatively interconnected world, and from this sprung much religious, cultural, political, and economic development was notable.
