McConnell holds the record of being the longest-serving Senator for Kentucky and the longest-serving leader of the Senate Republicans in the history of the United States. He is known for being a tactician and for his strategic skills in politics. According to McConnell, one of the reasons for successful politics is money. McConnell assumed the proposition 'money is speech' as his own and gradually became one of the most unabated advocators of more money in politics. In fact, in the general elections, he spent a record amount and won. Another reason is being tactful in politics. For instance, McConnell was initially seen as a moderate republican but over time he shifted according to the political winds and became more of a pragmatist. Moreover, he supported Trump as this was a good relationship for his political career, the country, and the Senate (Mayer, 2020).
