Foreign logging companies needed charcoal and timber to increase their economy as demand for charcoal has been high. So, they have started logging trees from Brazilian Amazon. The ovens producing charcoal uses a large amount of timber. Approximately 800 ovens use 23,000 trees per month. For timber export only, a few species such as mahogany are used for logging as they have commercial value. Therefore, selective logging has been done because of that logging and harvesting long trees leads to falling of 5-10 trees which increases the rate of deforestation.
