Answer to Question #163397 in Mechanical Engineering for Birend chettri

Question #163397

Questions

1. A bar AB of weight W is hinged to a vertical wall at A

and supported at B by a string BC as shown in Figure.

Find the magnitude of tensile force in the string BC.

Take α = 300

.

2. A 750 N man stands on the middle rung of a 250 N

ladder, as shown in figure. Assuming the end B rest on

the corner of a wall and a stop at A to prevent slipping,

determine the reaction at A and B.

3. A right angled bar is supported by roller at B and a

hinge at A, as shown in Figure. Find the reaction at A

and B due to a load P applied as shown.

4. A roller of radius 100 mm and weight 200 N is to be

publled over a curb of height 40 mm by a force P

applied at the center O, as shown in Figure. Find the

minimum force P required to start the roller over the

curb.

As figure is not given in this so i am assuming figure for this question

In equilibrium condition we know that

"\\Sigma F_x= 0, \\Sigma F_y= 0"

and "\\Sigma M=0"

So,

Now,

"R_x-Tcos 30^o=0, R_y+Tsin 30^0= 14.66"

and ,

"R_x.0+R_y.0-10(3.5-.12)-4.66\\times 2.5 +Tcos30\\times 0.25+Tsin 30^0\\times 4.88=0"

on solving we get

T= 19.84 kN
