 ➢Employers.

Employers are required by the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 to provide and maintain safety signs where there is a significant risk to health and safety that cannot be avoided or controlled by other means (e.g., safe systems of work), provided that the use of a sign can help reduce the risk. They also mandate road traffic signs in businesses to manage traffic and piping markings when pipework carries dangerous substances, as appropriate.

➢ Self-employed (subcontractors).

Understanding the company's Health and Safety Policy and ensuring that it is communicated to all workers, especially new hires. Carrying out all work in line with its specifications and bringing any improvements or additions to the Contracts Manager's attention.

Understanding the requirements of the Construction Regulations and other applicable legislation and ensuring that they are followed on the job site.

Organizing sites so that work is completed to the needed standard with the least danger to personnel, other subcontractors, the general public, equipment, or materials.

Ensuring that registrations, records, and reports are maintained up to date and properly filled out, and kept in a secure location. In addition, ensure that copies of rules and statutory notices are readily available.
