There are few ways to separate a solid phase from liquid:
a) decantation – under the influence of Earth’s gravitational field solid phase sedimentates on the bottom of the vessel, which is filled with suspension undergoing the separation;
b) filtration – under the pressure difference suspension moves through the filtering device, where liquid passes through the porous filter, leaving the solid phase on it;
c) centrifugation – firstly, cylindrical unit with solid or perforated walls is filled with suspension, and it starts to rotate along its axis. Centripetal force, caused by rotation leads to the effective sedimentation of solid phase on the unit’s walls.
