solution-

Mass of piece of metal is 30.4571gm

When piece of metal was dropped into cylinder

Change in volume of water due to metal piece is equal to volume taken by metal piece

Change in volume of water = 9.90 - 6.45 cm3

= 3.45 cm3

Density of piece of metal = mass / volume

= 30.4571/3.45

= 8.8281 gm/cm3
