This covers a lot of material and not all fibers will react the same. Natural fibers tend to decay in strong acids and alkalies, lowering their tensile strength. Glass and Carbon fibers are usually not effected by acids or alkalies. Synthetic fibers are in between. Some greatly effected and others not.
