Answer to Question #206613 in General Chemistry for Grace

Question #206613

If 54.1 g of aspirin (C₉H₈O₄) are produced from 79.8 g of C₇H₆O₃, what is the percent yield from the reaction below?

molar masses

C₇H₆O₃ =138g

C₉H₈O₄ =180g

theorictically 180g of C₉H₈O₄ shoulb be produced by 138g of C₇H₆O₃

if 100% is yielded.

so 79.8g of C₇H₆O₃ should produce =(180/138)* 79.8g of asprin

=104.087g of asprin

% yield= (54.1g/104.087g)*100

=51.98%
