Mass of NaCl dissolved = 5 g

Volume of 5 g of NaCl dissolved 

= (mass/ density)

= 5 g /2.16 (g/ml)

= 2.315 ml

 

So,

in 50 ml of water 2.315 ml of NaCl dissolved

In 1 ml water (2.315/50) ml NaCl dissolved

In 100 ml water (2.315×100/50) ml NaCl

               = 4.63 ml


So, the percent by volume concentration of a solution = 4.63%
