Bengal and Siberian tigers are generally bigger than african lions. Physically, the hind legs of tigers are larger than their front legs enabling them to leap forward distances of up to 10 metres.

Bones of tiger's front legs are strong and dense to support the large musculature needed to take down and drag a prey. Tigers are generally the heaviest cats in the wild.

African lions on the other hand have strong jaws, powerful legs and long canine teeth. They are the second largest in the cat family. During confrontations with others, the mane of a male african makes the lion look bigger than it generally is. A male african lion weighs approximately 170 kg.

Tigers are fierce fighters than lions. During fights, lions stand on their three paws and mauls on their fourth while tigers stand on on their hind legs and maul with both front paws simultaneously.
