Flower types are quitedistinct between wild and cultivated vines: cultivars are mostly hermaphroditic
while wild are dioecious; the female flowers, however, show anthers, but
usually with sterile pollen. So, wildgrapevines have either male or female flowers on each plant and require
cross-pollination to produce grapes. Domestic vines have both male and female
flowers on each plant and are self-fruiting.
