Answer to Question #38222 in Other Biology for sasiganth

Question #38222
Define (i)Species and (ii)diffusion?
Expert's answer
A species can be defined as a group of actually or potentially interbreeding organisms that is reproductively isolated in nature from all other such groups.

Free diffusion is the simplest form of membrane transport. When it is supported by integral membrane proteins, it is known as facilitated diffusion (or facilitated transport). Free diffusion and transport processes facilitated by ion channels and transport proteins always follow a concentration gradient — i. e., the direction of transport is from the site of higher concentration to the site of lower concentration.
