Collenchyma tissue is almost always located on theperiphery of the organs, either as a continuous layer or as a separate bundles associated with a conductive tissue. In the stems, it often forms compact groups of stretches along the edges. Collenchyma tissue makes up things such as the resilient strands in stalks of celery. It provides structural support, particularly in growing shoots and leaves, and helps plants to resist mechanical stresses.
