A cell specialized for photosynthesis will probably be located within the shoot system of the plant, close to the surface, where light rays can be trapped. A non-photosynthetic cell could be present in the root system or in the deep layers of stem. The photosynthetic cell should be live, and contain numeroud chloroplasts located closer to the cell membrane. The cell should also have a high surface area for diffusion of carbon dioxide into it.
