If the solids are lipophilic they combine with lipids in cell membrane and move into the cell, their movement can be aided by protein carrier through active transport which is the movement of dissolved molecules into or out of a cell through the cell membrane, from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration. The particles move against the concentration gradient by use of energy.
