Answer on Mechanics | Kinematics | Dynamics Question for ezekiel

Question #20412
if the speedometer of a car indicates a constant speed of 40 km/h, can the car accelerate? Why?
Expert's answer

Answer

It is possible that the car hasa centripetal acceleration that changes the direction of movement (e.g. the car is making a curve or constantly racing within a circular loop) while the speed (magnitude of the velocity) stays the same. The acceleration thus influences only the direction of the velocity vector.
