The equation for a projectile's height versus time is h(t)=-16t^2+vt+h
A tennis ball machine serves a ball vertically into the air from a height of feet, with an initial speed of 130 feet per second. What is the maximum height,in feet, the ball will attain
A particular railroad found that each month 65% of its boxcars on the home trackage left to join the nation pool and 63% of its boxcars in the national pool were returned to the home trackage. If these percentages remain valid for a long period of time, what percentage of its boxcars can this railroad expect to have on its home trackage in the long run?
How do I solve this equation using the subtitution method:
60+0.20(x-550)=120+0.15(x-800)
There are 3 employees at work vying for 3 desks. 2 desks are good, the 3rd one is bad. The manager, Tara, writes down a number between 1-20, and turns that paper over. She asks each employee (Rocky, Haley, Kandice) to come up with a number in that interval; whoever guesses the number that is exact or closest to the Tara’s number will get 1st choice, and from that point on.
Keep in mind that each employee only has to “not lose,” or simply guess the 2nd closest number from the Tara’s number, not to guess the 1st closest number. The goal all each employee is ONLY to avoid the 3rd desk, or guessing the number farthest from the Tara’s number.
What number should Rocky guess if he is the 3rd one to guess a number, after knowing Haley’s and Kandice’s guesses?
If he’s the 1st one to guess?
If he’s the 2nd?
Let a,b є R, and suppose that for every ε > 0 we have a ≤ b+ε. show that a ≤ b.
Show that if a < b, then a< (1/2)(a+b) < b
Show that if a > 0, then (1/a) > 0 and (1/(1/a)) = a.
Show that there does not exist a rational number t such t2 = 3.
If a ≠ 0 and b ≠ 0, show that (1/ab) = (1/a)(1/b).
If 0 < a < b, show that
1) a < (ab)1/2 < b;
2) 1/b < 1/a.
